As we transition to the 4th Quarter of 7/8 STEM, we begin a new unit on astronomy.

Carl Sagan‘s extraordinary work is exemplified in this beautiful, short video:

Here is a Crash Course video introducing the Solar System:

In class this week, we began work on the OneNote assignment “Create the Solar System”.  We learned how to scale the planets and used the online app TinkerCAD to make a 3D model of the Universe. This work will continue next week.  You may want to access the file from home via portal.office.com to be sure to complete the work by the due date.

Create the Solar System

You’ll have 2 class periods to complete this assignment. There are multiple parts. Work efficiently with your partner in Part 1, create your own project in Part 2 (but okay to keep working together). In Part 3, you should work independently to create your own Sway.

Learning Targets:

I can scale the size of something.

I can describe the general characteristics of each planet.

 

Technology Skills:

I can use Excel to write equations.

I can use TinkerCAD to make a 3D model.
